I've always joked that being a fat gay conservative has won me many friends. In reality it has shaped the person that I am today. I am sharing that with you.

Organic foods…

In the blog, I address various topics, and it’s not the items or the subject matter that bother me; it’s the people who make a big fuss about them. Firstly, do we truly understand what we are purchasing? There’s this romanticized image of a small farm in rural America, with an elderly couple passionately tending to every piece of fruit and vegetable. While this may hold true for smaller farmer’s markets, it’s not the case for the produce available at grocery stores. The products at grocery stores are manufactured by the same massive corporations that produce all the “normal” food. It’s naïve to believe otherwise. The resources, money, and effort required to produce genuinely organic products are substantial and not financially viable. (Taking a bite of a Twinkie) …

I have no personal grudge against large food conglomerates; in fact, they are largely responsible for feeding all of us. However, their primary motivation is profit. If it’s not profitable, they won’t pursue it. Eating organic doesn’t make you a superior person; refrain from letting it define your “personality” and avoid looking down on those of us who would rather allocate that money elsewhere.
